Born Oct 28 1921, near Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.5,6,7,8  

He married Mabel Irene Martin4,9 [Mable Martin1,10].  Mabel, daughter of George C. Martin & Mamie Gammon, was born Aug 21 1920, Rockingham County, North Carolina.8,9,10,11  

On Feb 16 1942 Theiron Swaindell Hinshaw, age 20, registered for the World War II draft in Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.  He declared he was born Oct. 28, 1921 near Burlington, North Carolina, and was then residing on Route #1 near Westerwood, Burlington, North Carolina, employed by H & H Auto Parts in Burlington.  He declared his relative/contact was Clarence W. Hinshaw of the same address.  He was recorded as 6'1" tall, 155 lbs., gray eyes, brown hair, light complexion.7  

On Jan 8 1943 Theiron S. Hinshaw, born 1921 in North Carolin, enlisted at Camp Croft, South Carolina as a private in the U.S. Army.  He declared he had four years of high school and was married.  He was recorded as 71" tall, 156 lbs.12  

Mabel died May 7 2002, Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina; buried Pine Hill Cemetery, Burlington, North Carolina.8,9

Mrs. Mabel Martin Hinshaw
BURLINGTON - Mrs. Mabel Martin Hinshaw, 81, of 2710 Trail Six, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.  

A native of Rockingham County, she was the wife of Mr. Theiron S. Hinshaw, who survives, and the daughter of the late George C. Martin and Mamie Gammon Martin.  She was a registered nurse retired from the Skilled Nursing Division.  She was a graduate of St. Leo School of Nursing and was a member of St. Leo’s Alumni Association.  She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.  

Survivors other than her husband of the home include a daughter, Mrs. Karen Hinshaw Shreve and husband, Mark, of Reidsville; three sisters, Mrs. Claudia M. Ferguson and Mrs. Ruby M. Cross, both of Burlington, and Miss Dorothy I. Martin of Eden; a grandson, Mr. Nick Shepherd and wife, Denise; and two great- grandsons, Eliot and Ian Shepherd.  

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Miss Judith Ann Hinshaw.  

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pine Hill Cemetery.  

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Presbyterian Church.  

The family will receive friends at the church following the service, and at other times at the residence.  

Memorials may be made to Center for Aging, c/o Harvey Jay Cohen, M.D., Box 3003, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C. 27710 to benefit the Duke Aging Center’s Parkinson’s Research Fund.  Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

In 2007 Theiron was still living in Burlington, North Carolina.6,13  

Theiron Swaindell Hinshaw died Oct 30 2011, at his home, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina; age 90.8,14

Theiron S. Hinshaw, 90, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Sunday, October 30, 2011.  

A native of Alamance County, Theiron was the son of the late Clarence and Verna Hinshaw, and husband of 59 years to the late Mabel M. Hinshaw.  He was a dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a World War II veteran, chorister, scoutmaster, fisherman, manager at Levin Brothers, and a lifelong member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church.  

He is survived by his grandson, Nickolas Shepherd and his wife Denise of Burlington; four great grandsons, Ian, Eliot, Ayden, and Olin; one sister, Zuma V. Boswell of Burlington and two sisters-in-law, Ruby Cross and Kathleen Hinshaw, both of Alamance County.  

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his two daughters, Judy A. Hinshaw and Karen S. Shreve.  

A kind man of gentle heart will be missed by all, until we meet again!  

The funeral service will be conducted at Shiloh Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Carl Parsons with the family receiving friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. prior to the service.  Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.  

Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America, Old North State Council, 1405 Westover Terrace, Greensboro, NC 27408.
