Mrs. Ruby Hinshaw Carden BURLINGTON -- Mrs. Ruby Hinshaw Carden, 90, of 2725 Amherst Ave., died at the residence of her daughter in Ft. Myers, Fla., on Tuesday, November 20, 2007.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Buel E. Carden Sr. and the daughter of W. Thomas Hinshaw Sr. and Texie Lail Hinshaw, both deceased. She was a member of Davis Street United Methodist Church. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and an avid golfer.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Patricia C. Hollan of Ft. Myers, Fla.; a son, Mr. Buel E. Carden Jr. and wife, Pat of Elon; three grandsons, Mr. Mark Hollan (Sherry), Mr. Steve Hollan (Tavyia), and Mr. Jeff Hollan (Tracey), all of Florida; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Argie H. Bivens and husband, W. E. "Dink" of Burlington; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Dottie Hinshaw of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mr. Gerald Hollan; four brothers, Mr. James Hinshaw, Mr. Frank Hinshaw, Mr. Brodie Hinshaw, and Mr. W. T. "Dub" Hinshaw; and one sister, Mrs. Tressie Massey.
A graveside service will be conducted at Alamance Memorial Park on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 2 p.m. by Dr. Alan Sasser and the Rev. R.E.L. Moser.
