JAMES L. HENSHAW

ARKPORT - James L. Henshaw, 76, of 68 Main St., died Tuesday (Aug. 17, 2004) at St. James Mercy Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past week.  

Born May 13, 1928, in North Hornell, he was the son of James L. and Albertine Wyant Henshaw.  James was married April 4, 1964, in Arkport to Joanne M. Scoffield, who survives.  He was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth Eymer and Phyllis Henshaw.  

He had been employed by the former Hornell Woodworking Corp. in Hornell, the former S.K.F. Industries in Hornell, a truck driver for C.L. Wellington, Hornell; and later retired from the Griffith Oil Co.  Following retirement, James was employed for six years at Cy's Shurfine Shopwise in Arkport.  He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing.  

Besides his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Marilyn (John) Applebee of Bath, Janice Czimback of Elmira, Marsha Hmiel of Bath and Lynn (Jamie) Lantz of Arkport; four sons, Jim (Bonnie) Henshaw of Hornell, Steve (Linda) Henshaw of Arkport, Lewis Henshaw of New York and Bill (Cathy) Henshaw of Syracuse; one sister, Margaret Carrillo of Phoenix, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  

The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 19, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Robertson Funeral Home, Inc., Hornell, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, with Rev. Dudley Jenkins officiating.  Burial will be in the Arkport Cemetery, Arkport.  

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
