James was apparently married to Louisa for a short time, as son Leo was born in 1901 when Louisa would have been 17 years old, and in 1905, at age 21, Louisa had remarried. James left his family and moved to Arkansas.3
According to family oral history, in some later year son Leo got drunk and left one night for Arkansas. When he arrived at his father's house his father would not even let him in the door and insisted that he leave. Devastated, Leo returned home, very depressed, after which he never spoke of his father James again.3
