Richard M. "Dick" Collins
Died November 17, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, KY. He served for 27 years in the U.S. Army and then entered Civil Service as a systems analyst. While a resident of Northern VA, he served on the Prince William County Fire Board, was President of the Northern Virginia German-American Club, taught senior driving safety as a NARFE volunteer and was a White House volunteer for the Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations. Richard was preceded in death by Betty Collins, his wife of 51 years; his son, Joe Collins; two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his sons David and Michael; his second wife Charlotte Henshaw Dyer Collins; five step-daughters, five step-sons, five sisters, five brothers, five grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on December 9, at 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at the Prince of Peace United Methodist Church in Manassas, VA at 4:30. A brief fellowship will precede the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Henshaw Christian Church, Henshaw, KY, in memory of Richard.
