He married Glenna Ester Friend1,11 [Glana Friend7], Apr 19 19161,11.  Glenna, daughter of Marshal Clark Friend & Jerushia Adeline Rogers1,7,12, was born Aug 7 18931,7,12 [about 18973].  

On Jun 5 1917 William Ward Hanshaw, age 22, registered for the World War I draft in Clay County, West Virginia.  He declared he was born Jan 21 1895 in Clay County, West Virginia, and he was then residing in Inydall, Clay County, West Virginia where he was a self-employed farmer with a wife and one child.  He was recorded as short, medium build, blue eyes, light hair.9  

William and Glenna were divorced before 1930.3
