Born about 1780, probably in Virginia.3  

Thomas was in Person County, North Carolina as early as 1799.  On Jan 3 1799 Thomas Henshaw was recorded as a witness to a deed: Jeremiah McIntire sold 100 acres to Cochran, Haralson, & Co. for $100.4  

He married Elizabeth Lewis, about 1803, Caswell County, North Carolina.3  Elizabeth, daughter of Fielding Lewis, was born Sep 28 1786, Person County, North Carolina.3,5,6  

The following was recorded in Person County, North Carolina "Record Books", Book 3, pages 262-263:6

March Court 1804

Guardian accounts for orphans of Fielding Lewis by Hiram Lewis, guardian, and John McFarland, former guardian.  

John McFarland, guardian account for Elizabeth Lewis, now the wife of Thos. Henshaw.  10 Dec. 1803.  /s/ James D. Henley, William Trotter.

On Mar 3 1806, Thomas Henshaw was recorded as Bondsman for the marriage bond of Hiram Lewis and Agness Cearney, Caswell County, North Carolina.7  It is unknown how this Hiram Lewis might have been related to Elizabeth Lewis, but she did have an uncle named Hiram Lewis.
