Patrick Henry Hanshaw, 81, of Evergreen Hills Community, Cottageville, departed this life October 30, 2011, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.  

He was born March 31, 1930, in Enoch and was a son of the late Harmon Jackson and Selina (Harold) Hanshaw.  Sisters, Ollie Rhodes, Rebeccah Kyle, Lena Sumner, Garnie Hamrick and Chattie Stickle; brother, William Hanshaw; infant siblings, Cecil and Gladys Hanshaw; and two grandchildren, Matthew Gerwig and Nicholas Hashman, also preceded him in death.  He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War Era.  He was a retired tipple operator from Southern Ohio Coal Company and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.  He was an active member of Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Ann (Sizemore) Hanshaw; daughters, Cindy Hanshaw of Cottageville, Karen and her husband, Irvin Hoschar, of Millwood, Judy and her husband, Mark Heindl, of Cottageville, Nancy, and her husband, Randall Hooser, of Charleston and Betty, and her husband, Robert Crump, of Fredericksburg, Va.; brothers, Gerald and his wife, Alice Hanshaw, of Georgia, Jack Harmon and his wife, Sonja Hanshaw, of Virginia; sisters, Beulah Woods of Summersville and Iris Shimer of Charleston; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who were very special to Pat.  

Funeral service will be 7 p.m. Thursday, November 3, at Evergreen Hills Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Price officiating.  Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Clay Memorial Gardens, Clay.  Visitation will be two hours prior to the service Thursday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 Lee St. E, Charleston, WV 25301.  Arrangements are by Casto Funeral Home, Evans.  Online condolences may be sent to
