THE WORK OF DEATH
Edgar C. Henshaw.

Edgar Craven Henshaw, of Martinsburg, W. Va., one of the best known men in Berkeley county of West Virginia, long and conspicuously active as a fruit man, churchman, banker and civic leader died Sunday.  Death was caused by Bright's disease.  He was related in Frederick.

The deceased was born at the old Henshaw homestead on Mill Creek, near Bunker Hill, W. Va., on November 9, 1859, and was in his 65th year.  He was a descendent of Joshua Henshaw, who came to Massachusetts, from Lancashire, England, in 1635. [sic]

Mr. Henshaw's business interests were wide and extensive.  He was vice president of the board of directors of the People's Trust Company, and held that position at death.  He was a pioneer in the fruit field here, and during his life accumulated considerable holdings in fruit lands.  He was particularly well acquainted with the fruit problem, - the production and marketing ends, - and was regarded much as an authority because of his experience in the business.

Mr. Henshaw was also active in Masonary.  Church affairs also claimed close attention, and he served as a deacon.

Surving [sic] are his widow, formerly Miss Sarah Mason Lingamfelter, of Hedgesville, to whom he was married in 1886; and the following children: Edgar Levi, and Mrs. Trammell Hollis, Martinsburg; Mrs. E. W. Steedle, of Newark, Del.; and Newton Lee, of Chicago.  The following sisters and brother also survive: Mrs. M. L. Butler and Mrs. Valley Virginia Berry, of Hedgesville; Miss Frances L. Henshaw and Mrs. Mabel Henshaw-Gardiner, Martinsburg; and Robert L. Henshaw, of Seattle, Wash.

Funeral services Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the late home at 400 West Burke street.  Burial in the Henshaw plot in Mt. Zion cemetery in Hedgesville.
