Henshaw, age 24, registered for the World War I draft in Fayette County, Pennsylvania (also stamped by the clerk of the county court of Monongalia County, West Virginia). He declared he was born Jan 15 1893 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and was then still residing in Uniontown where he was a single, without dependents, and a student at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was recorded as tall, slender, gray eyes, dark brown hair.⁵

He married Virginia Crossland.¹ Virginia was born Oct 11 1893, Pennsylvania.^2,9

William was shown in the 1930 census (Apr 17 1930), living with his widowed mother in South Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania:⁷

On Apr 27 1942 William Veech Henshaw, age 49, registered for the World War II draft in Venango County, Pennsylvania. He declared he was born 1-15-1893 in Fayette [County], Pennsylvania, and was then residing on New Salem Rd., South Union Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where he was employed by the Baltimore & Ohio R.R. Co. of Baltimore (employed in Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania). He declared his relative/contact was Lulu Henshaw on Uniontown. He was recorded as 5' 9" tall, 162 lbs., blue eyes, gray hair, light complexion, with "half second finger missing on left hand".⁶
