Virgil was a professor of philosophy at Ohio State University, Columbus.1 He was stricken with bipolar disorder - see son Stephen, who wrote a book on the subject based upon his father's struggle with the disease.
In 1995 Virgil was still living in/near Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio.3

Graduate of Bexley High School, 1942, and The Ohio State University, B.A., B.Sc., M.S. Member of Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Alpha Theta. Taught 16 years Department of English, O.S.U. Survived by son, Stephen P. Hinshaw (Kelly), Berkeley, CA; daughter, Sally P. Hinshaw, Columbus; grandchildren, Jeffrey W. Hinshaw and Evan R. Hinshaw, CA; brother, W. Frank Pryor (Jane), Columbus; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Member First Community Church, Couples Circle 13 and Group Y; Columbus Crichton Club; O.S.U. Womens's Club, O.S.U. Faculty Club; Childhood League Board IV; Junior League of Columbus; The Arthritis Foundation, former National Board member. No visitation or church service as requested. Private family service at a later date. Arrangements by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085.
