Maude Ellington dies at age 105
Mrs. Maude Hinshaw Ellington died at 12:45 a.m. June 28, 2003, at Westchester Manor. She was born in Randolph County on March 11, 1898. She was the daughter of Joseph Vance Hinshaw and Louisa Branson Hinshaw. She was married to James Milton Ellington, who preceded her in death, and resided in High Point most of her life. She was employed by High Point Laundry for 30 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the former A.H. Idol Sunday School class.
She is survived by her sister, Gray H. Lewis of Charlotte, and her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Coggins Ellington. She was preceded in death by her two sons, James Milton Ellington Jr. of Sunset Beach and William (Bill) Banks Ellington of High Point, and her daughter, Ruth Ellington Roberts, of Morehead City. She is survived by eight grandchildren. Her family will remember her as a loving mother and grandmother. Her kindness and warm smile will live always in the hearts of those who knew her.
Visitation will be Monday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, 1015 Eastchester Drive, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Cumby Family Funeral Service on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Internment will follow in Westminster Gardens in Greensboro.
