On Feb 19 1941 Maxwell N. Hinshaw, born 1919, enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina as a private in the U.S. military (branch unspecified).  He declared he had four years of high school, and was single, without dependents.  He was recorded as 68" tall, 145 lbs.11  

He married Julia Frances Helms1,3 [Frances Helms8], Apr 12 19411,3, Bennettsville, Marlboro County, South Carolina1,3.  Julia, daughter of Thomas Leck Helms & Lena Kate Brown, was born Nov 8 1923.3  

In 1995 Maxwell was living in Asheboro, Randolph County, North Carolina.7  

Maxwell Norman Hinshaw died May 4 1995, Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Randleman, Randolph County, North Carolina; buried Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro, North Carolina.7,8,9  

Max's obituary was published in the "Greensboro News & Record" on May 5, 1995:8

Mr. Maxwell Norman Hinshaw, 75, of 110 Shaw St. died Thursday, May 4, 1995 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.  Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist church with Dr. Steve Rainey and the Rev. Tim Smith officiating and burial to be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.  A native of Alexandria, Va., he was a resident of Randleman for the past 60 years.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men's Bible class.  He was an Army veteran of World War II and was the owner and operator of the Lad and Lassie clothing store in Randleman.  Survivors include his wife, Frances Helms Hinshaw of Randleman; sons, Max Hinshaw Jr. of Mooresville, Chris Hinshaw of Sophia, Michael Hinshaw of Mocksville; sisters, Edith H. Wood and Goldie H. Christenberry, both of Randleman; and six grandchildren.  Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. tonight at Pugh Funeral Home in Randleman.  Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 300 S. Main St., Randleman, N.C. 27317; or to St. Joseph Home Health Agency, P.O. Box 190, Asheboro, N.C. 27204.
