Robert's obituary was published as follows:5
Robert Harrison Smith, 86, of 2308 Sherwood St. died at Butner Hospital yesterday morning at 6 o'clock. He had been in declining health for 10 years and hospitalized for thee years.
He was a native of Guilford County and had lived here all his life. He was a retired lumberman.
Smith was a member of the Pleasant Garden Methodist Church.
He is survived by five sons, M. M. Smith of Route 1, Greensboro, and Robert H. Smith, Jr., A. B. Smith and Henry C. Smith all of Greensboro, and C. L. Smith of Richmond, VA; two daughters, Mrs. Charles R. Biggs of Greensboro and Miss Nelle B. Smith of Wilson; three brothers, John F. Smith of Route 1, Greensboro, Z. T. Smith of Pleasant Garden and Fred Smith of Lawrenceville, VA; one sister, Mrs. J. A. Hodgin of Greensboro; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Forbis & Murray Chapel today at 4 p.m. The Rev. J. S. Higgins, pastor of Rankin Memorial Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Garden Cemetery.
The body will remain at the Forbis & Murray Funeral Home until the hour of the service.
