Max Dawson Hinshaw, 78, of 6702 Hwy. 22 North, Climax, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Clapps Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden.
Graveside Services, 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 19, 2011, Grays Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Franklinville.

He was a native of Randolph County, a self employed chicken farmer, and was of the Methodist faith. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the Army during the Korean war. Mr. Hinshaw was formerly employed by Monarch Furniture, and worked part-time for Piedmont Forestry Consultants. He was also a Boy Scout & Cub Scout Leader, founding member of Climax Fire Department (Lineberry Station) where he served as firefighter, safety officer, and board member. He loved working outdoors and with his portable saw mill.
Survivors: wife, Pat Kidd Hinshaw of the home, daughter, Deanna Hinshaw Cox, and husband Shane, of Asheboro, son, Don Hinshaw, and wife, Christine Ritter Hinshaw, of Climax, sister, Rosalie Ashcraft, and husband, Charles, of Arkansas, brother, Clay Hinshaw of Burlington, grandchildren, Victoria Cox, Tiffany Cox, Trevor Hinshaw, Spencer Hinshaw, sister-in-law, Mildred Hinshaw of Burlington.
The family wishes to especially thank the nurses of Clapps Nursing Center of Pleasant Garden and to Dr. Gates for their special care.
Visitation, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, other times at the residence.
