On Oct 16 1861 Henry Henshaw, age 18, enlisted at Buffalo, New York as a private in Company K, 100th New York Infantry;² promoted to full corporal on May 31 1862.^2,6

Henry C. Henshaw died Jul 31 1863, buried Aug 1 1863, Section 26, grave 17, Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina.^1,2,3,5

Henry died from wounds received in the Battle of Fort Wagner, South Carolina, on Jul 18 1863.^3,7 His remains are buried at Beaufort, South Carolina^3,7 (or Beaufort, North Carolina),² but there is a grave Marker at Griffins Mills Cemetery, Aurora, Erie County, New York (lot 71, section 4).^1,3,7
