William was a world-class musician (french horn), having played first horn with the Los Angeles, California and Kansas City, Missouri symphony orchestras and the Fox and Warner Brothers movie studios.3,10  

He married Ellen Wilson McAdoo, Sep 13 1938, Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, California.1,10,11,12,13  Ellen, daughter of William Gibbs McAdoo, Jr. & Eleanor Randolph Wilson, was born May 31 1915, Washington, D.C.1,2,6,12,13,14  

Ellen was the daughter of U.S. Senator William Gibbs McAdoo and grandaughter of President Woodrow Wilson.1,2  She had been previously married, 1934, and divorced from Filipino actor Rafael Lopez de Onate,2,13,14,15 by whom she had one son, Richard Floyd Onate (1935-1992).13  

William's marriage had been announced in the "Long Beach Independent" (Long Beach, California) on Thursday, September 8, 1938:15

Ellen Wilson McAdoo, 23-year-old daughter of the U.S. Senator and grand-daughter of former President Wilson, filed notice of intention to wed William Alfred Hinshaw, young film and radio musician.  Her first husband, divorced, was Rafael Lopez de Onate, Philippine-born actor.

Ellen had schooled in France and studied music - she was particularly interested in voice.13

Mrs. Hinshaw asked custody of their child, William Gibbs Hinshaw, 2.  

She and Hinshaw were married Sept. 12, 1938.  She was divorced the previous year from her first husband, Rafel Lopez de Onate, Latin actor, by whom she has a son, Richard, 8.

McAdoo's Daughter Awarded Divorce

LOS ANGELES, Sept 24. -- (AP) -- Mrs. Ellen McAdoo Hinshaw, daughter of the late United States Senator William Gibbs McAdoo and granddaughter of the late President Woodrow Wilson, today divorced her second husband, William Alfred Hinshaw, film studio musical director.  

She testified that her husband stayed away from home three or four days at a time and would not inform here [sic] where he had been.  An out-of-court agreement gives Mrs. Hinshaw custody of a two-year-old son.

Ellen died Dec 22 1946, Santa Monica, Los Angeles County, California; buried Dec 26 1946, Plot 332 Sunny Slope Grave 3, Inglewood Park Cemetery, 720 East Florence Avenue, Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California.2,6,13  Ellen died from an overdose of sleeping pills.3  

He then married Barbara Brown.1,10,11  

He then married Elizabeth McGee, Jul 28 1952, Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada.1,10,11  Elizabeth, daughter of Arthur Lovie McKee & Mattie Lucinda Tilly, was born Sep 29 1923, Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia.1,7,20,21  

William Alfred Hinshaw died Sep 3 1993, King Hospital, Tucson, Pima County, Arizona; buried Masters Cemetery, 5057 Flakes Mill Drive, Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia.1,7,10,11,12  

Elizabeth died May 19 2006, buried Masters Cemetery, 5057 Flakes Mill Drive, Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia.7,20
