Born Feb 28 1869, Mud Lick, Chatham County, North Carolina.1,2,3 This reported birthdate is questionable. Note that Charles was shown with his parents in the 1880 census4 and was shown age 9, making his birth about 1871. His father, Solomon Uriah Hinshaw had been shown in the 1870 census still living at home with his parents,5 apparent unmarried. Therefore it appears that Charles' parents did not marry until after 1870 (or late in 1870) and Charles was apparently born about 1871.
He married Jeanette "Janet" Crutchfield, Jul 8 1891.1 Jeanette, daughter of Henry Crutchfield & Ellen Crutchfield, was born Oct 25 1873.1
Jeanette died Feb - 1918.1
Charles Hinshaw died Apr 13 1918, Burlington, Alamance County, North Carolina.1,3
