Daniel's father died when he was an infant, and his mother then removed with him to Greene County, Indiana in 1828.8
He married Ann Delinger5,6,7,10 [Anna Dellinger2, Cynthia Ann Dellinger11, Cinthia Ann Dellinger12], Apr 25 18485,6,7,10, Greene County, Indiana5,6,7,10. Ann, daughter of Henry Slinkard & Mary Ann Dellinger, was born about 1828, Ireland.11,12 (Her parents were unmarried).11

Ann died before 1860. Cynthia Ann apparently died before 1860 as she was not shown with Daniel in the 1860 census.9
Daniel was shown in the 1860 census (Jul 30 1860), living with the family of a William & Mary Wirdey in Newberry, Green County, Indiana:9
He then married Susanna Slinkard Shoemaker2,7,10,13 [Susanna Slinkard2,7], Dec 6 18602,7,10,13, Greene County, Indiana2,7,10,13. Susanna, daughter of Frederick Slinkard, was born Jul 1 1827, Greene County, Indiana.2 Susanna was the widow of Daniel Shoemaker.2,7,14
During the Civil War, Daniel served as a wagoner in Company C, 59th Indiana Volunteer Infantry.2,8,15
Daniel Henshaw died Jun 27 18623,8,15 [Jul 3 18622], Farmington, Mississippi3,8,15; buried Farmington, Mississippi - reinterred to Section A, grave 1818, Corinth National Cemetery, Corinth, Mississippi3,8,15. Medical: Daniel died from typhoid fever.2,3,8
On Oct 18 1862 Susannah S. Henshaw applied for a pension as widow of Daniel Henshaw, veteran of Company C, 59th Indiana Infantry.3,16 Her application was approved Jan 13 1864, and her pension payments of $8.00 per month were retroactive to Jun 27 1862 (the date of Daniel's death).3
On Jul 24 1863 Susannah Henshaw swore an affidavit which stated:3
"... she has one child by the said Daniel Henshaw it is named Anna Rebecca Henshaw. She was born July 8th 1861. She is now two years and sixteen days old."
On Oct 15 1869 Susannah Henshaw applied for an increase in pension payments. She was granted an additional $2.00 per month for the benefit of Daniel's child, Anna Rebecca Henshaw. The $2.00 per month was to be paid until Jul 7 1877 at which date the child would reach age sixteen.3
Widow Susannah was shown in the 1880 census (Jun 2 1880), Newberry, Greene County, Indiana:17
Susanna died before 1902. On Dec 31 1902 the Commissioner of Pensions was notified to drop Susannah S. Henshaw from the pension roll "because of Death date unknown". Her last payment of $12.00 had been issued Nov 4 1899.3 (Note that the $12 payment was was an increase over her $8 payment of 1864).
The following biography of Daniel Henshaw appeared in "History of Greene and Sullivan Counties, State of Indiana, from the Earliest Time to the Present; Together with Interesting Biographical Sketches, Reminiscences, Notes, etc." Chicago: Goodspeed Bros. & Co., publishers; 1884:2
DANIEL HENSHAW, deceased, was of Sourthern birth, born December 16, 1826. The death of his father when he was an infant left him to the care of his mother, who removed with him to Greene County, Ind., in 1828, and afterward married William Bynum. Daniel Henshaw married Anna Dellinger for his first wife, but she and the three children born to them are now dead. He was married to Susanna (Slinkard) Shoemaker in December, 1860, and in 1861 became a member of Company C, Fifty-ninth Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and died of disease at Farmington, Tenn., July 3, 1862. Mrs. Henshaw was the daughter of Frederick Slinkard. She was born in Greene County July 1,1827; was married to Daniel Shoemaker in August, 1848, by whom she had five children, only two -- Catharine E. and Frederick S. -- yet living. Mr. Shoemaker died February 5,1859, and by her last husband, Mrs. Henshaw was the mother of two children -- Anna (Mrs. David Nugent) being the only survivor. Mrs. Henshaw has been a member of the Lutheran Church since sixteen years old, and resides at Newberry, within sight of her birthplace. Although sorely afflicted by the death of many of her nearest and dearest relatives, she has sumitted to the decrees of the Allwise Creator without murmuring, and is a firm believer in His works.
