Sturgis,Ky., Nov. 15, 1902 - News has just reached here of the horrible death of William Farlew (Farley), a prominent young farmer, living six miles from Sturgis. Mr. Farlew (Farley) was at the home of his brother-in-law, Ben Hopgood, hauling corn to the shredder when his foot slipped from the rest of the front of the wagon.
The team ran away and his body was dragged some distance under the heavily loaded wagon and badly mangled. He was picked up by others in the field and carried to his brother-in-law's home, where he died, after suffering intense agony.
