He declared he was born August 10, 1892 in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, and he was then still residing at Rout [sic] 2, Bulls Gap, where he was single and engaged in farming, employed by J.M. Hinshaw of Bulls Gap. He claimed an exemption from the draft due to "physically disabled". He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, black hair.8
