On Jun 5 1917 William Franklin Henshaw, age 27, registered for the World War I draft in New Madrid County, Missouri. He declared he was born Aug 20 [unclear] 1888 in East Prairie, Missouri, and was then residing in Matthews, Missouri where he was single, without dependents, and employed in farming. He claimed an exemption due to "physically disable". He was recorded as medium height, medium build, gray eyes, black hair, and "appears in perfect health - not crippled in any way".1 See scan below.
William later served in the armed forces duting World War I.2

William had property in Matthews, Missouri and worked as a janitor in a store there.7 In 1957 William was still living in Matthews, Missouri.2
