Robert's obituary was published in "The Des Moines Register" on Saturday, May 11, 1996:¹

Robert G. Hinshaw, 50, of Carlisle died of a stroke Friday at Des Moines General Hospital.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Overton Funeral Home, and burial will be at Scotch Ridge Cemetery.  Mr. Hinshaw was born in Fairfield and lived in Carlisle the past 25 years.  He was a journeyman sheet metal worker for Waldinger Corp. in Des Moines.  A veteran of the Marine Corps, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Sheet Metal Workers and served as a Greenfield Township trustee.  Among survivors are his wife, Beverly; a daughter, Malissa Walton of Indianola; his parents, George and Frances Hinshaw of Montezuma; a brother, Charlie of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Elizabeth Olsen of Dows and Bessie Schilling of Sherman, Texas; a grandmother, Ethel Stephensen of Keosauqua; and two grandchildren.  Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
