Lester Boone Dies At 66

Lester Boone, 66, of Fouch Road, Traverse City, died early Sunday morning at Munson Medical Center after a lingering illness.  

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reynolds funeral home in Traverse City, Rev. Robert Nelson officiating, with burial in Bingham cemetery.  

Mr. Boone was born August 30, 1903, in Bingham township, Leelanau County, the son of Louis and Cassie Boone, attended Bingham and Traverse City schools, and had lived in Leelanau County near Traverse City the last 15 years.  For many hears he was a farmer, and he was employed at Morgan McCool, Inc. for 12 year prior to retiring in 1967.  Mr. Boone was a member of the Elks and of Traverse City Eagles Club.  

On April 4, 1925 in Traverse City he was married to Doris Hinshaw who survives.  

Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. George (Virginia) Gendron of Warren, and Mrs. Roy (Beverly) Spiekerman and Mrs. Phillip (Dona) Moon of Saginaw; three sons, Richard of Davison, Jerry of Flint, and David at home; 16 grandchildren; Five sisters, Mrs. Harry (Olive) O'Connell of Houston, Tex., Mrs. Levi (Garnet) Detour and Mrs. Fred (Roberta) Hanson of Traverse City, and Mrs. Roy (Bernice) Firestone and Mrs. Alex [...]

Doris Flora Boone

BURT -- Doris Flora Boone, 77, a homemaker and former resident of Bingham Township, died Thursday at her residence.  

She had lived in Burt for the last six years.  Born in Bingham Township, Nov. 2, 1904, she was the daughter of Russell and Lucy (Core) Hinshaw.  

Surviving are three sons, Richard of Saginaw, Jerry of Flint and David of Burt; three daughters, Mrs. George (Virgina) Gendron of Coloma, Mrs. Roy (Beverley) Spiekerman and Mrs. Phillip (Dora) Moon, both of Saginaw; one brother, William Hinshaw of Maryland; four sisters, Mrs. Celia Reincke and Mrs. Lucy Lee, both of Suttons Bay, Mrs. Lola Olney of Charlevoix and Mrs. Elda Groesser of Traverse City; 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  

Her husband, Lester Boone preceded her in death.  

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, 1:30 p.m. at the Reynolds Russell J. Lautner officiating.  Burial will be in Bingham Cemetery.  Friends can meet the family at the funeral home on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Memorials may be directed to the Retarded Foundation of Traverse City.
