The marriage of Frederick and Grace was reported on Monday, April 16, 1888 in the San Francisco Call (page 3-7):5

"A very quiet wedding across the bay last week was that of Miss Grace S. Tubbs and Judge Henshaw, which took place last Monday at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. Hiram Tubbs, East Oakland ...".

Living next door in 1900 was the family of widow Susan C. Tubbs, born Oct 1832 in Massachusetts12 (apparently Grace's widowed mother).14  

Frederick was a judge for several years.  When first elected, he was the youngest judge on the bench in California.15  He later became Justice of the California Supreme Court.5  

He then married Helen (Walker) Tay1,5 [Helen Walker5], Feb 16 19041,5, San Francisco, San Francisco County, California1,5.  Helen, daughter of Oscar V. Walker & Ella J. Hinkle, was born Jul 8 1872, California.5,11,16,17,18  

The marriage of Frederick and Helen was reported on Wednesday, February 17, 1904 in the San Francisco Chronicle (page 13-3):5

"At noon yesterday Mrs. Helen Walker Tay became the wife of Supreme Justice Frederick W. Henshaw, the ceremony being performed at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar V. Walker, 2500 Broadway ..."

No children by the second marriage.1  

Note that although Frederick married Helen in 1904, he apparently continued a family relationship with Grace and their children.  It is unknown if Frederick and Grace were ever legally divorced or not, although in the 1920 census (below) Grace declared herself to be divorced.  

In 1906 Frederick was part owner of a rod and gun club near Grizzly Island near Vacaville in Solano County, California.19  The club, formed in July 1879 as the Hardland Club, was renamed the Ibis Club and in 1906 was owned by Judge Henshaw, Henry Pfortman and Ed Graney.19  It appears that on his death Frederick bequeathed all or part of his ownership in the club to his nephew Griffith.14

During 1916-18 Frederick gifted several native California animals to the California Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, University of California.21,22

OAKLAND, May 8. (Exclusive) -- Mrs. Susan Grace Tubbs Henshaw, widow of Supreme Court Justice Frederick W. Henshaw, died yesterday after an illness of two weeks.
