Claude first farmed his grandmother Sarah Burton's farm near Boxley, Indiana. He later worked as a hired hand on another farm.1
He married Dorothy Leoina Seekins1,10,11 [Dorotha L. Seekins2,3,10], Dec 25 19171,10,11, near Fairmount, Grant County, Indiana1,10,11. Dorothy, daughter of Rev. William John Seekins & Anna M. Beaumont, was born Mar 7 1898, Boxley, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,2,3,7 (Her father was born Oct 2 1861, died Dec 19 1943; her mother was born Feb 8 1865, died May 20 1915).12

In 1921 Claude moved from Indiana to southern California, driving there in 30 days in a 1917 Model-T Ford with his wife, two baby daughters, and his teenage brother, Clair. He helped build the Encino Reservoir near Los Angeles, then became a landscape supervisor for the Los Angeles Park Department.1

In 1937 Claude returned his family to Indiana where he bought a 67-acre farm north of Pittsboro.1
In 1941, Claude moved near Dayton, Ohio and was a woodworker at Wright-Patterson AFB. He ended his career there, retiring as a Documents Branch supervisor.13
Claude Wheeler Hinshaw died Oct 19 1963, Pittsboro, Hendricks County, Indiana; buried Boxley Cemetery, Boxley, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,6,7 Medical: Claude died from a heart attack.12
