Loella Corrine Sebbert, 88. Loella Corrine Sebbert, 88, of Spirit Lake, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999, at Hilltop Care Center of Spirit Lake. Services were held Friday, December 3, 1999, at United Methodist Church, Spirit Lake, where Rev. James Stiles officiated. Interment was in Okoboji Cemetery, Arnolds Park, at a later date. Honorary casketbearers were Margaret Genschmer, Virginia Phelps, Elveda Ross, Ollie Thompson, John Williams, and Beverly Waggoner. Turner Funeral Home of Spirit Lake handled arrangements. The daughter of Elmer and Alice (Cother) Hinshaw, she was born June 10, 1911, at Arnolds Park. Following graduation from high school, she obtained a teaching degree from Iowa Teachers College, (now the University of Northern Iowa). On March 29, 1941, she married Al Sebbert at Toledo, Ohio. She spent four years in Houston, Texas, while her husband served in World War II. After she finished her teaching career in Spirit Lake, she and her husband became the owners and operators of Hinshaw Heights Golf Course from 1946 -76.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Hinshaw LaDoux and Thora Hinshaw Seaton.
She is survived by her husband, Al, of Spirit Lake; her sister, Margaret Hinshaw of McAllen, Texas; her nephew, Damon LaDoux of Milford; his son, Shaw LaDoux of West Okiboji and daughter, Tasha LaDoux of Claremont, California; neice, Joanne LaDoux Shive of San Diego, California, and her children, Kate Frost and her daughters, Elizabeth and Rachel of Englewood, Colorado, Mark Shive and his son, Max, of Temecula, California.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. She also was an active member of PEO for over 50 years.
