He married Maud Wisehard^8,16 [Maud Wiseheart^1,15], Apr 15 1911^8,16, Henry County, Indiana^8,16.  Maud was born Dec 4 1888.⁸  

On Jun 5 1917 Gurney Hinshaw, age 26, registered for the World War I draft in Henry County, Indiana.  He declared he was born December 19 1890 in Kennard, Indiana, and was then residing in Shirley, Indiana where he had a wife and child, and was a farmer employed by Verdie Jackson, near Shirley.  He claimed an exemption due to "slightly deaf".  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, brown eyes, dark brown hair.¹⁴  

Maud died before Jan 5 1920.²  

Widower Gurney and daughter were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 5 1920), living with his parents at 744 South Greenleaf Ave., Whittier, Los Angeles County, California:²

He then married Mabel Burge¹ [Mable Burdge¹⁷, Mabel Burdg^12,18], about 1922¹.  Mabel, daughter of Lewis Burdge & Anna (Emma) Ware^3,12,15,18, was born Oct 4 1891^3,12,15,18, Texas^3,12,15,18 [Indiana¹⁷].  Mabel was the sister of Hazel Burdge who married Gurney's brother Lindsey.
