Born Aug 9 1841, North Carolina.a,b,c,d,e,f,g
During the Civil War, Thomas served as a private in Company D, 33rd Tennessee Infantry.h,i,j,k,l,m,n    On Jan 1 1863 Thomas was captured by Union Soldiers in Henry County, Tennessee.    On Feb 2 1863 he arrived at the Union prison camp at Alton, Illinois.    Freed on exchange Apr 1 1863.    He was again captured on Sep 19 1863 near Chickamauga, Georgia, forwarded to Louisville, Kentucky for exchange on Oct 14 1863 (apparently arriving there on Nov 28 1863).    Released on oath Mar 15 1865.o,l    Alton Prison recorded Thomas as age 23, 5' 10.5" tall, dark complexion, black hair, black eyes.l
He married Sarah Samanthia Keller, May 24 1866, Fountain County, Indiana.p,q,f,r,g    Sarah, daughter of James M. Keller & Sarah Ann Norris, was born May 24 1845, Indiana.f,s,t,b,u,v
Thomas and Sarah lived in Veedersburg, Fountain County, Indiana.o
Thomas and family were shown in the 1870 census (Aug 2 1870) Mill Creek Township, Fountain County, Indiana:t
Thomas and family were shown in the 1880 census (Jun 9 1880) Mill Creek Township, Fountain County, Indiana:b
He then married Malinda A. Davis, 1887.o,e,c,d    Malinda, daughter of Isaac Barton Davis & Margaret Jane Childress, was born Feb - 1864, near Crystal, Obion County, Tennessee.f,o,e,c,d,y    Malinda was one half Native American Cherokee.f
Malinda had apparently been previously married tod (probably briefly), or had a relationship with,x a -- Johnson, by whom she had a daughter, Elva/Elvy Johnson.c,y
Malinda's brother, William D. Davis, married her step-daughter Martha Jane Hinshaw in the early 1900s.o
Thomas and family were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 6 1900), Sassafras Ridge, Fulton County, Kentucky:c
Malinda's obituary was published in the "Hickman Courier" (Hickman, Fulton County, Kentucky) on Friday, July 15, 1910:y
Malinda Hinshaw, 43, wife of Thos. Hinshaw died in West Hickman this morning at 3 o'clock from tuberculosis.    She was born near Crystal, Tenn.    Survived by her husband, and five children -- Elvy Johnson, Malinda, Ira, Tom, and J. Hinshaw.    Burial will be this afternoon at City Cemetery.
Although Malinda's obituary states she was to be buried in "City Cemetery", there is no record of her burial in Hickman City Cemetery.    However there are two graves in the Sassafrass Ridge Cemetery with missing gravestones (only the bases remaining), next to Malinda's mother, M.J. Davis.o
Thomas is buried in Wrenfrow Cemetery, Ravenden Springs, Randolph County, Arkansas, next to his daughter Sarah Evaline.o
There are no dates on his gravestone so his death date remains unknown.o    He was known to be alive in November of 1910, as he then sold his father's farm, and Arkansas did not start registering death certificates until 1914.    So we can speculate that he probably died between November 23, 1910 and January 1914.o
At the entrance to the Hickman City Cemetery there is a monument to Confederate soldiers, including "T.B. Henshaw", Company D, 33rd Tennessee Infantry.z
