Born Nov 8 1832, Truman Store, Caroline County, Virginia.1,3,14,15 (c1834).5,16 (King and Queen County, Virginia).2,3
He married Willie Ann Saunders1 [Willie Ann Garnett3,10, Willie Ann Garnitt17], Aug 26 18561. Willie, daughter of William + Susan Saunders, was born about 1832, King and Queen County, Virginia.1,2 (James + Jane Garnett).3 (James + Jane Garnitt).17
Note: On Willie Ann's death certificate, Eugene Henshaw listed her parents as James and Jane Garnett. However, Willie Ann is listed in the census as part of the household of William R. and Susan Saunders.1 Family folklore is that Willie Ann was born in the Garnett family but raised by the Saunders family.
Eugene was shown in the 1860 census (Jun 26 1860), living (or temporarily staying) in the household of a Sarah Turner in Newtown, King and Queen County, Virginia:16
Sarah Turner, age 70, born in Virginia; seamstress; $100 real estate; $50 personal property.

It is currently unknown where Willie Ann and children were living in 1860.

He then married Susan Davis Chenault1,2,3 [Rubie Chenault18], Oct 5 18601,2,3, Belleville, Henrico County, Virginia1,2,3. Susan, daughter of Brooking Chenault & Aquilla Farmer, was born Dec 25 1839, King and Queen County, Virginia.1,2,12 (c1835).5
Note: Eugene was married to Willie Ann and Susan simultaneously. According to family history, the two households were next-door neighbors, and the two wives did not get along.1
Eugene Henshaw enlisted in the Confederate Artillery (2nd Regiment, Virginia Artillery). He was a Private in this regiment which became the 22nd Batallion of Virginia Infantry. He was mustered at Gloucester Point, Virginia in March, 1862 by Captain Johnson. According to the company muster roll, he deserted March 22, 1863. But he was actually a prisoner of war in Charles County, Maryland on September 7, 1864 and was later released (exact date unknown).2

On Aug 3 1903 Eugene Henshaw was ordained a priest by Anders Mortensen. He was living at Swansboro, Chesterfield County, Virginia, and was later ordained an Elder March 6 1905.2

Funeral of Eugene Henshaw
Funeral services for Eugene Henshaw, 82 years old, father of Mrs. Naomi Snead and Mrs. Cora L. Snead, of RICHMOND, were conducted this morning at Ochre, Chesterfield county. The burial was in the family burying ground.
Mr. Henshaw, who was twice married, leaves thirteen children, fifty-six grand children and thirty-nine great-grandchildren. His children by the first marriage are: Mrs. Marie L. Martin [sic], William L. Henshaw [sic], Mrs. Lucy A. Martin, Mrs. Georgianna Sirles and John Henshaw. Those by the second marriage are: George E. Henshaw, Charles E. Henshaw, Eugene Henshaw, Jr., of Chesterfield county; Mrs. Cora L. Snead, Mrs. Naomi Snead, of RICHMOND; Miss Ida J. Henshaw and Miss Mollie G. Henshaw.
