Bertha Hinshaw (1914 - 2012)

Bertha Hinshaw, 97, of Ronan died Feb. 15, 2012 at St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan, surrounded by family.  She was born April 24, 1914 in Mauldow [sic], Mont., the daughter of the late Myrtle and Joe Pavey.  She was the youngest of four siblings.  On Oct. 21, 1940 she married Andy Hinshaw.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Sandy Hinshaw of Polson; her daughter and son-in-law, Ethel and Harry Renner of Rochester, Minn; six grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Andy; two brothers, Louie and Jim Pavey; two sisters, Myrtle Verworf, and Grace Biggs.

Bertha lived and worked on many ranches with Andy throughout Montana, Idaho, and the last one being the Love Ranch in Mobridge, S.D.  It was there she started working at the post office and continued until retiring at the age of 70.

She was a member of Eastern Star for more than 50 years and had held every office.  Bertha was not only a hard worker, but was well known for her delicious cooking and baking, beautiful handmade quilts, crocheting, embroidering, sewing, and many craft projects.  She was a wonderful loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She never met an animal she didn't love and they all responded to her kind touch.  We loved her very much and will leave a huge void in our lives.  Bertha will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation and viewing will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012 at the Shrider-Thompson Funeral Chapel.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 at the Mission Valley Church of Christ in Polson.  Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21 at the Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman.
