John Henshaw

He married Susanna Cory, Jun 9 1779, Providence, Rhode Island.² Susanna, daughter of Caleb Cory & Hannah Manchester.³

Shortly after the close of the Revolutionary War an attempt was made to obtain additional pay, on account of the depreciation of the currency, for the soldiers serving in the Rhode Island Regiments. A committee was appointed by the Rhode Island Legislature and a report made showing the "Depreciation Accounts", or the additional amount of pay to which each soldier was entitled. Included in the report was a John Henshaw, a Lieutenant in Col. Robert Elliot's Regiment.⁴ The report probably refers to this John Henshaw of Rhode Island.⁵
