Born Jan 6 1884, Furnas County, Nebraska.1,2,3  (Jun - 1884).4,5,6,7,8  

On Sep 12 1918 John Wesley Hinshaw, age 34, registered for the World War I draft in Cavalier, Pembina County, North Dakota.  He declared he was born Jan 6 1884, and was then residing in Drayton, Pembina County, North Dakota where he was a farm laborer.  He declared his nearest relative was Jessie Hinshaw of Beaver City, Furnace [sic - Furnas] County, Nebraska.  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair.2  

He married Eliza -.6  Eliza was born about 1874, Minnesota.6  

John and Eliza were shown in the 1920 census (Feb 7 1920), Beltrami County, Minnesota:6

Hinshaw, John W, head-of-household, age 35, born in Nebraska; parents born in Indiana; owned home (mortgaged); occupation: farmer, own farm.
Hinshaw, Eliza, wife, age 46, born in Minnesota; father born in Ohio; mother born in Pennsylvania.

He then married Ida Landberg8 [Ida Jensen7], Aug 27 19308, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois8.  Ida was born Jun 17 1890, Sweden.7,8,9,10  

Ida had been previously married to a Hans P. Jensen, by whom she had daughters Mary/Marion Jensen (c1923)8,11,12 and Helen Dorothy Jensen (c1925),11,12 all of whom she had abandoned11 (see newspaper article below).  It also seems that she had been earlier married to a -- Landberg, by whom she had sons Arthur Landberg (c1917) and Bertil Landberg (c1919).8  

John and Ida were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 4 1930), living in (or staying in) a rooming house at 2011 West Adams Street, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois:7

Hinshaw, John, roomer, age 46, born in Nebraska; parents born in Indiana; married, first married at age 45; occupation: construction, streets; not a war veteran.
Hinshaw, Ida, roomer, age 39, born in Sweeden [sic]; parents born in Sweeden [sic]; immigrated 1904, naturalized; married, first married at age 19.

John and Ida were shown in the 1940 census (Apr 22 1940), 3807 Warren Avenue, Bellwood, Cook County, Illinois:8

Hinshaw, John, roomer, age 56, born in Nebraska; completed 8th grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house; rented home ($27/month rent); occupation: common laborer, road construction project.
Hinshaw, Ida, wife, age 49, born in Sweden; completed 8th grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house.
Landberg, Arthur, step-son, age 23, born in Illinois; completed 2 years of high school; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house; occupation: factory laborer, can manufacturer.
Landberg, Bertil, step-son, age 21, born in Illinois; completed 8th grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house; occupation: truck driver, parcel delivery service.
Jensen, Marion, step-daughter, age 16, born in Illinois; completed 2 years of high school; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house; attended school.
Langley, John, lodger, age 39, born in England; completed 4 years of high school; single; on Apr 1 1935 was living in Los Angeles, California; attended school; occupation: housekeeper, wholesale beverage office.

Note that John and Ida were shown as married in the above census in April 1930, although their Cook County marriage record shows they were not married until August of 1930.  

John Wesley Hinshaw, age 58, registered for the World War II draft in Maywood, Cook County, Illinois.  He declared he was born Jan 6 1884 in Furnas County, Nebraska, and was then residing at 1244 S. 18th Ave. in Maywood, employed by the Rock Road Construction Co. of Chicago.  He declared his relative/contact was Mrs. Ida Hinshaw.  He was recorded as 5'7.5" tall, 145 lbs., blue eyes, gray hair, light complexion, and "small scar over left eye".3  

John Wesley Hinshaw died May 27 1954, Los Angeles County, California.1,9  

In 1981 Ida was living in/near Downey, Los Angeles County, California.10  

Ida died Jan 10 1981, Los Angeles County, California.9,10
