On Sep 12 1918 John Wesley Hinshaw, age 34, registered for the World War I draft in Cavalier, Pembina County, North Dakota. He declared he was born Jan 6 1884, and was then residing in Drayton, Pembina County, North Dakota where he was a farm laborer. He declared his nearest relative was Jessie Hinshaw of Beaver City, Furnace [sic - Furnas] County, Nebraska. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair.2
He married Eliza -.6 Eliza was born about 1874, Minnesota.6

Ida had been previously married to a Hans P. Jensen, by whom she had daughters Mary/Marion Jensen (c1923)8,11,12 and Helen Dorothy Jensen (c1925),11,12 all of whom she had abandoned11 (see newspaper article below). It also seems that she had been earlier married to a -- Landberg, by whom she had sons Arthur Landberg (c1917) and Bertil Landberg (c1919).8
John and Ida were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 4 1930), living in (or staying in) a rooming house at 2011 West Adams Street, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois:7

Note that John and Ida were shown as married in the above census in April 1930, although their Cook County marriage record shows they were not married until August of 1930.
John Wesley Hinshaw, age 58, registered for the World War II draft in Maywood, Cook County, Illinois. He declared he was born Jan 6 1884 in Furnas County, Nebraska, and was then residing at 1244 S. 18th Ave. in Maywood, employed by the Rock Road Construction Co. of Chicago. He declared his relative/contact was Mrs. Ida Hinshaw. He was recorded as 5'7.5" tall, 145 lbs., blue eyes, gray hair, light complexion, and "small scar over left eye".3
