Born 1834, McMurry County, Tennessee.1,2  James was shown age 16 in the 1850 census, living with his parents in Williamson County, Illinois:3

James Henshaw, age 16, born in Illinois.
He is shown born in Illinois, although the Hinshaw-Henshaw book states he was born in McMurry County, Tennessee1 yet there is no such place.  

James Hinshaw died 1864.1
