Lease - Umscheid
wedding July 20

Miss Lajoy Lease became the bride of Leroy Umscheid in a double-ring ceremony at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hamburg July 20.  

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Henshaw of Hamburg and Mr. and mrs. Anton Umscheid of St. George, Kan.  

The bride wore a semi-A-line gown of peau de soie and Venice lace with a portrait neckline, long tapered sleeves and a bow at the waist.  The chapel train was trimmed in Venice lace.  He waist length tulle veil was held in place with a white rose headpiece.  

Maid of honor was Miss Bernadette Umscheid and bridesmaid was Denise Henshaw.  Both wore light green and emerald satin A-line dresses with lace inserts.  Their headpieces were emerald green ribbon and light green net.  

Eldon Umscheid served as best man and Warren Keeler was groomsman.  

Dawn Henshaw was flower girl and ring bearer was Darren Adkins.  Dorothy Jean Briggs was organist.  

Mike Long and Kenneth Randall were ushers.  

The bride's mother was attired in a dress of beige lace over brown and wore white accessories.  The groom's mother wore a rose lace dress and white accessories.  Both had pink carnation corsages.  

A reception followed the ceremony.  A five-tier cake, decorated with green roses, white doves and angels, was baked and served by the bride's aunt, Mrs. Jack Pierson.  Punch was served by Mrs. Howard Keeler and Miss Patricia Umscheid presided at the coffee service.  

The bride's table was centered with white glads and pom poms, green net and ribbon.  Place cards were white baskets of artificial green flowers.  Waitresses were April Henshaw and Carolyn Keeler.  

Gifts were cared for by Carolyn and Roger Keeler, Mrs. G. E. Clark and Miss Connie Belle.  

Mr. and Mrs. Umscheid are at home in the Mayfair Apartments in Cedar Rapids following a trip to Colorado.  

A rehearsal supper was held at Simpson's Cafe in Shenandoah July 19.  A 4 p.m. buffet dinner was served to the wedding party at Berning's Cafe in Shenandoah July 20.

A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Henshaw at the Fairfax Hospital Mar. 19.  He weighed four pounds and 15 ounces and was names Shawn McCarthy.  Mrs. Henshaw returned home Saturday.  

Shawn will be hospitalized a short time longer because of his size at birth.

Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Umscheid of Cedar Rapids are parents of a son born May 28 at Cedar Rapids.  He weighed six pounds and four ounces and was Christopher Devin.  

Maternal grandparents are Mrs. Dennis Henshaw, Hamburg, and Delmas Lease, St. Joseph.  Mr. and Mrs. Antone Umscheid of St. George, Kans., are paternal grandparents.

GRAVESIDE SERVICES
FOR HENSHAW INFANT

Shawn McCarthy Henshaw, two and one-half month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Henshaw died at a hospital in Iowa City June 4.  

Besides his parents, he is survived by five sisters.  

Graveside services were held Fri., June 6, at Mt. Olive Cemetery with the Rev. William Ballard officiating.  Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of services.
