On Jun 5 1917 Daniel Win Henshaw, age 28, registered for the World War I draft in Chicago, Illinois.  He declared he was born July 20 1888 in Chicago, and was then residing at 6311 Woodlawn Ave. in Chicago, single, occupied as a teamster employed by Brinks Express of 6247 Cottage Grove [avenue].  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, brown eyes, brown hair.2  

During World War I, Daniel served in the U.S. Army from Sep 18 1917 to Jul 18 1919.9

The following article was published in the "Suburbanite Economist" (Chicago, Illinois) on Wednesday, July 25, 1962:5

Fear of Banks Costs Him $10,000

George Henshaw, 74, of 6025 S. Green st., a dishwasher in the Englewood hospital, who has not believed in banks since the stock market crash of 1929, has reported to police someone broke into his three-room apartment and stole $10,000 he kept in a money container.  

Henshaw said he discovered the theft when he returned from work Friday night.  He said he found the empty money container on the rear porch.  

Henshaw's wife, Emma, 79, is vacationing with relatives in another city.  

He said he called her and told her about the loss.  

"We'll get along all right," Henshaw told police.  He said he had another money box containing $1,200, but said it was out of the reach of the thieves.  

Henshaw was 74 Friday.

Emma died Nov - 1964, buried Section E Row 18, Evergreen Cemetery, Kinmundy, Marion County, Illinois.11,13  

In 1974 Daniel was living in/near Farina, Fayette County, Illinois.11

Daniel's death was reported in the "Decatur Herald" (Decatur, Illinois) on September 12, 1974:10
