Living next door in 1880 was John's widower father, John T. Chesher, age 55.^d Living two houses away in 1880 was Amanda's brother William,^e and two houses away on the other side was her brother James.^f Also nearby was the household of Amanda's parents.^g

The Harrison Cheshire above was probably Thomas Harrison Cheshire, son of Amanda's sister Samantha Caroline (and John's brother).^h

John remarried c1909 to Mary Aretta "Retta" Stalsworth (Oct 15 1865 - Aug 23 1913).ⁱ She was the daughter of Samuel Stalsworth & Susannah "Susan" Coffey,ⁱ (Amanda's maternal aunt and uncle) and therefore was Amanda's first cousin (and John & Amanda's next door neighbor).^j,k
