He married Betty Louise Thompson¹⁰ [Betty Mendenhall^11,12], Dec 24 1946¹⁰ [Dec 14 1945^11,12], Everett, Snohomish County, Washington¹⁰.  Betty, daughter of William Mendenhall & Martha Bannister, was born Jan 11 1925, New Richmond, St. Croix County, Wisconsin.^11,12,16,17

Betty Thompson is Bride Of Linneous Hinshaw Linneous D. Hinshaw, of the U.S. Army, son of Mrs. W. F. Cargill, Sr., of Nashua, and Betty Louise Thompson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Thompson of Everett, Wash., were united in marriage at 4 o'cock [sic] Monday afternoon Dec. 24, by Rev. Chauncey E. Bossom at the First Congregation church at Everett, Wash.  The doube [sic] ring ceremony was used.   Mr. and Mrs. William E. Roach friends of the groom witnessed to the ceremony.   The bride wore a white satin gown and the grom [sic] wore his full dress Army uniform.   The bride is a graduate of the Grandview high school at Granview, Wis.  She went to Washington two years ago and was a nurse at the Children's Orthopedic hospital in Seattle.   The groom is a graduate of the class of '41 of the Arnolds Park Consolidated high school at Arnolds Park, Iowa.  He lived there until he joined the army in Sept. of 42.  He is now statoned [sic] at Port Headquarters at Paine Field, Wash.  They are at home at 3028 Grand Ave. Apt 2, Everett, Wash. until February when he expects to be discharged.  Then the young couple will come to Nashua to make their home.

Ed Bahlman Heads American Legion Ed Bahlman was elected commander of the Thompson-Fisher Post of the American Legion at a meeting of the post Monday evening.   Other officers elected are: Linneous Hinshaw, vice commander; Bryan Conley, adjutant and finance officer; Robert Gogg, sergeant-at-arms; Carl Litterer, chaplain, and Lester Posekany, historian.

Fisher, Hinshaw Take New Jobs Two Nashuans, Jim Fisher and L. D. Hinshaw, are now working in new jobs elsewhere.   Fisher began last week at Le-Mans, with the Veal Lumber co., of that city.  He was formerly with the Anderson Lumber co., at Correctionville.   Hinshaw has been working in the newspaper plant at L[..unclear..]ville, and began work Monday this week in the back shop at Washington, Iowa.

Rev. Paul Biaotto, pastor of the Friends' Church at Arnolds Park, came Friday for an afternoon's visit with "Grandma" Bement, who is seriously ill at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. F. Cargill.  The church of which he is pastor was founded by Rev. Jacob Hinshaw, great grandfather of Linneus and Wheeler Hinshaw, the former of whom (Linneus Hinshaw) lived at Nashua at one time.  Rev. Biaotto was accompanied here by Ivan Whipple of Arnolds Park.   Wheeler Hinshaw and family of Arnolds Park were weekend visitors here in the home of the former's mother, Mrs. Cargill.

Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hinshaw and four sons of Arnolds Park and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller and family from Bristow were visiting at the W. F. Cargill, Sr. home.  Linn Hinshaw will be staying there for two weeks and then will be returning to his job at the Morning Democrat and the Daily Times at Davenport.

Linneous Hinshaw Mourned Funeral services were held [..unclear..] Monday from the [..unclear..] Funeral Home in Nashua for Linneous D. Hinshaw, 44, who died early Thursday of injuries sustained in an auto[..unclear..] north of [..unclear..] Highway 61.   [.. four unreadable paragraphs ..] LINNEOUS IS survived by two son, Junior, 18, and John, 3; and six daughters, Mary, 16; Patricia, 14; Sally, 12; Lynette, 9; Martha, 6; Beth, 4, all of near Mason, Wis.   He is also survived by his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. William Cargill of Nashua; a brother, Wheeler Hinshaw of Arnold's Park; and three half-brothers, Keith Cargill of Nashua; William Cargill, Jr., San Jose, Calif.; and Sgt. LaVerne Cargill, U.S. Army.   HE WAS BORN at Arnolds Park March 2, 1921, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold C. Hinshaw.  His father died when he was three.   He lived at Arnolds Park until entering the Army in World War II.   Following his service, he came to Nashua, where the family had moved.  He worked at various jobs until working for the Iowa Public Service at its hydro-electric plant here.  He also attended the linotype school at Charles City.  Upon completion of this training, he worked a few months for The Nashua Reporter, after which he took employment at Lohrville.  He soon got a better job at Washington, Iowa, after which he took employment as a printer on the Davenport Democrat.  He worked there for 11 years.   Just this spring, he took a job with the Moline, Ill., Dispatch, and was employed there at the time of his death.   While at Davenport, he developed a friendship with the Rev. J. E. Ray and other clergymen, and had been studying nights since spring at a theological school in the Quad Cities area, operated by the Bible Missionary church, his mother said.   He was returning the son of a minister friend, Eric Johnson, 20, back to his home at Dubuque when the fatal accident occurred.  Two young women, students at the seminary, also were passengers.   One of the young women was driving Hinshaw's car, a 1965 model Pontiac, when she lost control and slammed into a culvert.  The girls and Johnson remained in the car, but Linneous was thrown through the windshield.  He died about an hour after the accident.  The girls were transferred to a hospital in Davenport, and Johnson escaped serious injury.   * * * SGT. LAVERNE Cargill returned from Viet Nam on a 30-day emergency furlough obtained through the Red Cross after Lavern's wife, now living in Nashua, notified the Red Cross.  He returned via military aircraft, but could not make connections in the States to get to Nashua in time for the funeral, arriving just two hours later than the 2 p.m. appointed hour.   * * * AMONG RELARIVES here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hanke, Charles Hanke and Russell J. Hanke, all of Michigan City, Ind.; Mrs. Dorothy Olson and Mrs. Glen McQuirk and son of Berwyn, Ill.; and all his brothers and half-brothers except William Cargill, Jr.  The latter and family had been here only a few months ago, before LaVerne left for overseas duty, and could not return at this time.

Betty Louise Harvey, age 84, of Spring Valley, Wis., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, in River Falls.   Betty was born Jan. 11, 1925, the daughter of William and Martha (Bannister) Mendenhall in New Richmond, Wis.  She had one brother named John William Thompson who is exactly two years younger.  They share the same birthday.   Betty grew up in Grandview, Wis., and attended Grandview School until 10th grade, and then they moved to St. Paul, Minn., where she graduated from John Marshall High School in 1942.  On Dec. 14, 1945, Betty married Linneous D. Hinshaw in Everett, Wash.  They were blessed with eight children.  She later married Frederick L. Harvey on Dec. 26, 1989, in South Dakota.   Preceding her in death were her parents; step-father, John Thompson; husbands, Linneous Hinshaw and Frederick Harvey; two grandsons; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.   Survivors include her eight children, Linneous Hinshaw, Betendorf, Iowa, Mary Hinshaw and Sally (Orville) Pierce, both Spring Valley, Patricia Lind, Stillwater, Minn., Lynnette (Randy) Johnson, Ferney, S.D., Martha Morrison and John Hinshaw, both of Eau Claire, and Beth Bundy, Watertown, S.D.; one brother, John Thompson of Everett, Wash.; 22 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Barbara Stroh of Everett, Wash.; one nephew, Bert Thompson of Phoenix, Ariz.; many other relatives and friends.   Visitation was on Monday, Nov. 23, for one hour prior to the service with funeral service at 11 a.m. at Spring Lake Lutheran Church, Spring Valley with Rev. D. Peter Friberg officiating.  Burial was in Spring Lake Lutheran Cemetery, Spring Valley.   Bearers were Adam Newago, Brent and Brandon Stevenson, Russell, James, Shane, Shawn, and Sheldon Hinshaw.   Keehr Funeral Home, Spring Valley handled arrangements.
