Dana Martin Hanshaw, 62, of Big Otter, very peacefully passed from this life on Thursday, June 7, 2012. Born December 19, 1949 in Vally Fork. He was the son of the late Waunie and Kate Hanshaw. In addition to his parents, Dana was also preceded in death by a precious niece, Aimee Beth Griffith.
He graduated from Clay County High School in 1967 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He spent most of his life in WV surrounded by his family that loved his dearly. He made many friends during the time he spent at Laurel Rehab & Nursing and also during the many years he spent doing what he like best, flea-marketing.
Dana leaves behind one daughter, Malisa (Danny) Mullins and one granddaughter Brittany (Lee) Lauderman, both of Spencer. Dana is survived by nine siblings; Mary Lou (Joe) Summers of Wallback, Agnes Perkins of Valley Fork, Hazel (Dale) Griffith of Seville, OH., Charles (Rose) Hanshaw of Fredericksburg, OH, Shirley (Blake) Jett Looneyville, Phyllis Hanshaw of Millersburg, OH., David (Marie) Hanshaw of Valley Fork, Sharon (Rocky) Boggs of Valley Fork and Ruth (Dan) Webster of Creston, OH and also by 16 nieces and nephews
Funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, Clay, with Minister Jerry Hanshaw officiating. Burial will be in Hively Cemetery, Wallback, with Military Graveside Rites Conducted by VFW Post 4419.
Friends may call 1 hour prior to the service.
