Hanshaw, age 33, registered for the World War I draft in Kanawha County, West Virginia.  He declared he was born 1-8-1886, and was then residing at/near Sta[tion] A, Cha[rleston], Kanawha County, West Virginia, a self-employed machinist.  He declared his nearest relative was Opel Hanshaw of Charleston.  He was recorded as tall, stout, brown eyes, black hair.9

Otto Michael Hanshaw died Jun 24 1934, Mason County, West Virginia.1  (Jul - 1934).16  

Otto was murdered.16  The following article was published in "The Charleston Daily Mail" (Charleston, West Virginia) on Sunday morning, January 20, 1935:16

Russell Parsons, 16 years old, of Arbuckle district, went on trial for the murder of O. M. Hanshaw last July.  Thursday was Parsons' birthday.  

Parsons and a neighbor boy became involved in a quarrel, the shooting following the dispute.

In 1992 Ida was living in Scott Depot, Putnam County, West Virginia.15  

Ida died May 19 1992.6,15
