Margaret Louise Grossi Hanshaw, 78, wife of Malcolm Hanshaw and a resident of Sacramento, California since 1965, passed away on November 7, 2003 at the Eastern Manor Residential Care Home.
Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Malcolm, and one child, Terilee Hanshaw and his wife of Woodbridge, Virginia; two sisters, Joan Reilly and Argelinda Stock of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Lewis Grossi of York, Pennsylvania and Bruno Grossi of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and sixteen nieces and nephews.
Born on May 21, 1925, in Gulich Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, Margaret Louise Grossi Hanshaw was the daughter of Jennie and James Grossi.
Mrs. Hanshaw was a retired Sacramento City educator. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from California State University, two Masters of Arts degrees one in education and one in public administration and a Doctorate of Education from University of Pacific. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the American Society for Public Administrators and was one of the first women to be accepted in the Sacramento Comstock Club. Margaret was a former member of Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament's Jazz choir and an attendee of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
A Memorial Mass will be said for Margaret on November 28, 2003 at the Holy Spirit Parish in Sacramento, California. A private gathering is being planned for Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Margaret's body will be cremated and her remains kept by the family.
