Hattie J. Henshaw1 [Hattie I. Henshaw2, Hattie G. Henshaw3].

Born Feb 18 1876, Deep Brook, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia.2,3,4  

She married - Keown.5  Hattie's first husband was the brother of Dr. James Keown from Lynn, Massachusetts who ran a private hospital at Lynn.5  

Child:5

Beatrice Keown; lived in Boston (had a daughter, name unknown).

She then married Dr. G. Allen Troxell.5  

No children from the second marriage.5  

Hattie was a Matron at Medfield, Massachusetts State Hospital.  She retired in 1938 and moved to Sarasota, Florida with her second husband.5  

Hattie J. Henshaw died Mar 2 1944, at her home, Sarasota, Florida.5  Medical: Hattie died from heart disease and after suffering a broken hip.3,5  

Hattie's obituary was published in the "Digby Courier" on Thursday, March 16, 1944:3,6

MRS G ALLEN TROXELL

Mrs Hattie G. Troxell, died at her home in Sarasota Fl. on Thursday, March 2 1944.  She was born February 18, 1876 at Deep Brook, the daughter of Thomas and Kazia [Hamm] Henshaw.  She went to Massachusetts when a young girl to make her home with one of her sisters.  Later she became a nurse and for twenty-five years served as matron at the Medfield Mass State Hospital, where her husband was a member of the medical staff.  She was a resident of Sarasota since 1938 but she and her husband had spent a number of winters there prior to making it their home.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs Beatrice Bulter, Boston Mass, a grand daughter Margaret White Wise, Bessimere Alabama and a great grand daughter Harriett Wise, Bessimere Alabama; two brothers Curtis Henshaw Deep Brook and Charles Henshaw Waledec West and one sister Mrs. William Hoyt of Waterbury VT.
