Jean Chiaf

Jean Chiaf was born October 19, 1926 in Sharon, OK at her grandparents' farm and went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 15, 2009.  Jean was married on September 12, 1945 to John Chiaf, Sr. and they spent 64 wonderful years together.  She enjoyed her early life in Western Oklahoma and met and married the love of her life in Abilene, TX.  They later moved to Brooklyn, New York, for a short time before moving to OKC, where John worked full-time and went to night law school at Oklahoma City University, where he graduated in 1952, and continues to be a prominent attorney in OKC.  Jean loved to paint, play piano and travel.  Her travels were world-wide, including all of Europe, and she especially loved the Holy Land.  She loved all of her family dearly and especially enjoyed time with her 3 children and all her grandchildren.  She was an active member of the Oklahoma County Bar Association Auxiliary and was a member of the Branding Iron CC, Lakeview CC, and Quail Creek CC.  She loved to entertain and always put on the best Christmas party of the year.  Her greatest virtues were patience and compassion.  She held her Christian values dear to her heart, and such were instilled by her devout parents.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Goldia and Leroy Hinshaw.  She is survived by her husband, John, the true love of her life; daughter, Jeannie Brentlinger of Edmond, OK; son, Dr. John Chiaf, Jr. of OKC; and son, Joey Chiaf, attorney, of Edmond.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Father Joe Jacobi, Pastor of St. Eugene's Catholic Church and caregiver, Cindy Chapman, for their involvement and efforts.  Visitation will be Sunday, October 18th, and Monday, October 19th, from Noon to 6:00 p.m. at Smith and Kernke Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 20th, at St. Eugene's Catholic Church, with entombment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum.
