Wanda Mae Lynes Woodward, Okla. -- Wanda Mae Lynes, 81 of Woodward, passed on to be with the Lord on November 17, 2013. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the First Christian Church with the Reverend Jeremy Skaggs officiating. Interment will be at the North Persimmon Cemetery, one mile east of Sharon. The family will have receive friends at the Billings Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
Wanda Mae (Hinshaw) Lynes was born January 2, 1932 in the family home to Jesse Vivan and Mildred Anita Hinshaw. She married Alvin Leroy Lynes on October 12, 1951 at the United Methodist Church of Sharon. They were blessed with two children, Dedra Jan Lynes and Kevin Russell Lynes. She has one daughter-in-law, Shirley Lynes.
Wanda was one of six children, four who have preceded her in death, Grover Bruce Hinshaw, Elmer Max "Mac" Hinshaw, Marcella Hinshaw-Wyatt, and Harlan Hinshaw. She has one surviving sibling, Carol Hinshaw Scott of Bethany.
Wanda graduated from Sharon High School in 1950 and entered the medical profession as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked as a nurse until retiring in 2012. Wanda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior during her teen years and remained a faithful servant in the First Christian Church of Woodward until her death.
She has three grandchildren, Cayla Beth Lynes-Ballard and husband Rod Adams, Heather Lynes Williams and husband Mark, Todd Lynes and wife Lauren. She has three great-grandchildren, Brock Ballard, Mark "Trip" Williams III, and Blaine Williams. Wanda was the ultimate people person who loved other people, especially babies and children. She loved to joke and play with others and loved to make others laugh and enjoy life. She will lovingly be remembered by nieces and nephews as Aunt Wanda and by many non family as Mama Wanda as she is considered to be a second mother to many. Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
