Valma J. (Hinshaw) Buttry, 83, of 505 W. MacArthur Ave., Bloomington, died at 5:09 a.m. Tuesday (May 14, 1996) at Meadows Mennonite Home, rural Chenoa.
She was born Jan. 21, 1913 in Chenoa to Charles W. and Lilly V. Sandham Hinshaw. She married Pleasant J. Buttry June 9, 1939 in Chenoa. He survives.
She is also survived by four daughters, Barbara G. Dorris, Clovis, N.M.; Dolores J. Buttry, Lexington, Ky.; Linda L. Roberts, LeRoy and Marcia E. Fogel, Summerville, S.C.; one son, David D. Buttry, Las Vegas, Nevada; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, including Veronica Davis who died April 16 and one brother.

Pleasant J. "Pat" Buttry, 91, Bloomington, passed away at 11:59 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 16, 2010) at Heritage Manor in Normal.
He was born Feb. 3, 1919 in Sneedville, Tennessee to Roy and Lucy Smith Buttry. He married Valma J. Hinshaw on June 9, 1939 in Chenoa. She passed away on May 14, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, David Buttry; two sisters, Minda Lawson and Georgia Seal and two brothers, Lucas Buttry and Charles Buttry.
Survivors include four daughters, Barbara G. Dorris, Las Vegas, N.M.; Dr. Delores J. Buttry, Johnstown, Pa.; Linda (Robert) Roberts, LeRoy and Marcia (Randy) Fogel, Summerville, S.C.; one daughter-in-law, Teddi Buttry, Rockford; 10 grandchildren, Dianna (Tom) Gallagher, Lubbock, Texas; Linda (Ronald) Sarabia, Albuquerque, N.M.; Steve (Nadine) Johnson, Clovis, N.M.; Todd (Dana) Hoback, Las Vegas, N.M.; Chris Hoback, Alexandria, Va.; Robin Fogel, Randy (Tanya) Fogel and Neil Fogel, all of Summerville, S.C. and Wade Buttry and Erin (Kevin) Boggs, both of Farmer City; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Oscar Lawson; one sister-in-law, Harriet Buttry and many nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Army infantry division during World War II in the European Theater.
