Born Dec 8 1856, North Carolina.2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10
William was totally blind.11 However, he was not blind as a child, as he was shown in the 1870 census (age 13) with no notation that he was blind (as there should have been if he was then blind); he was also listed as a laborer,5 which would seem unlikely if he had been blind at that time.
In 1890 William moved, with brothers Gray and James, from Boonville, North Carolina to Henry County, Indiana.11 He bought a farm east of Mount Summit and lived there until his death.11
He married Rozella D. Evans12,13,14 [Rose Evans15], Jun 3 188512,13,14, Henry County, Indiana12,13,14. Rozella, daughter of Samuel Evans & Cynthis Clard, was born Dec 7 1865, Indiana.2,3,6,7,8,9,16
