HANSHAW, Eugene Philip - 72, Bear River, died at home July 27, 2006, after a short battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late William and Mildred (Franklin) Hanshaw. He worked at Alcorn's Mill until it shut down in 1985, then he ran his own sawmill until recently. He is survived by his wife, the former Ella Addington; daughters, Barbara (Shawn) and Roxanne (Gary), both of Bear River; Claudette (Michael) Marr, New Tusket; Mildred (Gerry) Anderson, Lower Sackville; sons, William, at home; Bruce (Jane), Greenland; grandsons, Craig and Chad Marr, James Hanshaw; granddaughters, Valene Trimper, Jenna Anderson; great-grandson, Kirklynd; brother, James (Evelyn), Tremont; sisters, Ann, Dartmouth, and Virginia, Ontario. He was predeceased by son, James; brother, Wilfred, and sisters, Hazel and Ruth. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Saturday in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday in Jayne's Funeral Home, Rev. Donald Scheel officiating. Cremation to follow. Interment in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River, at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Victorian Order of Nurses.
