He declared he was born July 18 1900, and was then residing in Pontiac where he was a laborer employed by John Hinshaw of Ocoya, Livingston County, Illinois. He declared his nearest relative was his mother, Mable Bell Hinshaw of Pontiac. He was recorded as medium height, slender, blue eyes, dark brown hair.6
In the 1920 census, Harry was enumerated with his parents in Livingston County, Illinois; however he was also enumerated a second time by the U.S. Army (Jan 14 1920) at the U.S. Army Balloon School, Bexar County, Texas:8
