Anna Lee Alexander Hinshaw Mrs. Anna Lee Alexander Hinshaw, 91 of Britthaven of Davidson in Thomasville, N.C. and formerly of Pilot School Road, died Wednesday Aug. 9, 2006. Mrs. Hinshaw was born March 25, 1915, in Davidson County, the daughter of William and Julia Sink Alexander. A graduate of Appalachian State Teacher College in 1938, she taught at Pilot School from 1938 - 1941 and returned there in 1948 teaching until 1960. She also taught at the High Point City Schools from 1960 until retiring in 1975. She taught at Oak Hill and other schools in the City System.
Mrs. Hinshaw was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, the Best of Life Club, Women’s Guild, a former Sunday School teacher and was an active member as long as health permitted. On May 25, 1941, she married Alfred K. Hinshaw at her parents home in Thomasville. Alfred Hinshaw was from Westfield, Ind. and they resided there from May 1941 until Mid 1946 before moving back to Thomasville, N.C. Mr. Hinshaw preceded her in death on December 3, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers Clayton, Lawrence, Cromer, Lytal Alexander and sisters Stella Alexander, Amy Klass, Nona Sledge, Ida Mae Long.
Surviving are a daughter Julia H. Frison and husband, Carroll, of Litchfield Park, Ariz.; two sons, Rodger Hinshaw and wife, Nancy, of Spruce Pine, N.C. and Kirt Hinshaw and wife, Sue, of Archdale, N.C.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Geneva Alexander Darr, and husband, Olin, of Thomasville.
Funeral service for Mrs. Hinshaw will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday at Calvary United Church of Christ with the Rev. Kelly Barefoot, the Rev. June Grubb, and the Rev. Harold Hostle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville. Memorials may be directed to Calvary United Church of Christ 1410 Lexington Ave., Thomasville, N.C. 27360.
