GRANT HINSHAW, 81 Methodist Minister
LAKELAND -- The Rev. Grant Hinshaw of Lakeland died of pneumonia March 8, 2005, in Lakeland. He was 81.
Born in Westfield, Ind., on Jan. 15, 1924, Mr. Hinshaw came to Lakeland in 1990. He was a Methodist minister at churches in Spring Lake, Clearwater, Naples, Jacksonville, Sarasota, and Fort Lauderdale. He served as superintendent of the Fort Myers District of the United Methodist Church and on the executive committee of the Florida Conference Council on Ministries. He served on the board of directors of the Florida Methodist Foundation as a delegate to the jurisdictional conference and as an alternate delegate to the central conference.
He served with the 97th infantry in Europe during World War II.
Mr. Hinshaw was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Hinshaw. He is survived by his son, Andrew Hinshaw, Greenville, Pa.; daughters, Kendall Hinshaw, Lakeland, Tracy Forster, Jacksonville; sister, Emma Hinshaw; three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland.

Grant and Ione Kendall Hinshaw, and husband of the late Ann Hobson Hinshaw. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Edna Hinshaw; and two brothers, Herman and Alfred Hinshaw. A U.S. Army veteran, he received his PhD from Florida Southern and Emory University. He served several United Methodist Churches in Florida and was later appointed district superintendent.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Ann Forster and Kendall Hinshaw; a son, Andy Hinshaw; a sister, Emma Hinshaw; and three grandsons.
Services were held in Lakeland, FL. Memorial donations may be sent to the National Parkinson Foundation, c/o Julian Pearson, 1501 West 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
