Born Jan 15 1924, Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana.1,3,4,5,6,7,8  

On Feb 17 1943 Grant Hinshaw Jr., born 1924 in Indiana, enlisted at Indianapolis, Indiana as a private in the U.S. Army.  He declared he had one year of college, was single, without dependents, and a student.  He was recorded as 69" tall, 153 lbs.6  

He married Mary Ann Hobson8 [Ann Hobson3,9,10].  Mary was born May 23 1924.7,8  

In 2000 Grant and Ann were living at 1001 Carpenters Way, Lakeland, Florida.11  

Mary died Dec 29 2002.8

Grant's obituary was published in "The Ledger" (Lakeland, Florida) on Saturday, March 12, 2005 [erroneously under "Grand Hinshaw"] and again on Wednesday, March 16, 2005:3

GRANT HINSHAW, 81

Methodist Minister

LAKELAND -- The Rev. Grant Hinshaw of Lakeland died of pneumonia March 8, 2005, in Lakeland.  He was 81.  

Born in Westfield, Ind., on Jan. 15, 1924, Mr. Hinshaw came to Lakeland in 1990.  He was a Methodist minister at churches in Spring Lake, Clearwater, Naples, Jacksonville, Sarasota, and Fort Lauderdale.  He served as superintendent of the Fort Myers District of the United Methodist Church and on the executive committee of the Florida Conference Council on Ministries.  He served on the board of directors of the Florida Methodist Foundation as a delegate to the jurisdictional conference and as an alternate delegate to the central conference.  

He served with the 97th infantry in Europe during World War II.  

Mr. Hinshaw was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Hinshaw.  He is survived by his son, Andrew Hinshaw, Greenville, Pa.; daughters, Kendall Hinshaw, Lakeland, Tracy Forster, Jacksonville; sister, Emma Hinshaw; three grandchildren.  

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 72 Lake Morton Drive, Lakeland.  

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Foundation Inc., Development Dept., c/o Lois Hefferman of Julian Pearson, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave., Miami, 33136-1494.

DR. GRANT HINSHAW

LAKELAND, FL - Dr. Grant Hinshaw, 80, a summer resident of North Carolina, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005.  Born in Indiana, he was the son of the late Rev. Grant and Ione Kendall Hinshaw, and husband of the late Ann Hobson Hinshaw.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Edna Hinshaw; and two brothers, Herman and Alfred Hinshaw.  A U.S. Army veteran, he received his PhD from Florida Southern and Emory University.  He served several United Methodist Churches in Florida and was later appointed district superintendent.  

Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Ann Forster and Kendall Hinshaw; a son, Andy Hinshaw; a sister, Emma Hinshaw; and three grandsons.  

Services were held in Lakeland, FL. Memorial donations may be sent to the National Parkinson Foundation, c/o Julian Pearson, 1501 West 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136-1494.
